Art Lessons

Location: Guthega - Kyilla lodge
Date: Fri 08 Feb 2019 to Sat 09 Feb 2019
BSC is hosting an art workshop in 2019. The workshop tutors will be Jenny Manning and David McKenzie. Jenny worked for 24 years as an educator at the National Art Gallery of Australia and currently works as a professional artist and teacher. Jenny and David held a similar course for our club in Feb 2018 and was a hit with all attendees.
The main aim of this year’s workshop (1.5 days) is to explore the landscape through drawing and painting.

1.        Photographing trees, bark and habit of growth, rocks and other close up elements of the local landscape.
2.        Making quick drawings of these elements for inclusion in the painting
3.        Discussion of landscape composition
4.        Thumbnail designs for landscape paintings.
5.        Using charcoal and acrylic paint create works in layers
6.        Review time.

Cost: $90 per head. Please bring cash to pay the tutors directly at the workshop.

Materials: A list of materials to be provided by Jenny and students is still being finalised. However this is a rough guide.

Tutors: Jenny and David will bring most of the paint, brushes etc.
Students: You will need to bring your own cheap, and rather small, canvases, some paper and paints. If you have an easel then please bring it. You can then work on a larger scale. Places like spotlight have cheap art materials. If you have a phone with a camera then please bring that as well or another device like an iPad.

Accomodation: Tiobunga lodge has been blocked and all bookings are to arranged via the business and event planning officer, Mark Green. Family members not attending the art lessons are more than welcome. This event will offer guests 3 nights for the price of two. Once you have registered your intent to stay at Kyilla for this weekend your room will be booked and an invoice will be emailed to you.

Please indicate when booking what you extra night will be so that a bed can be reserved on that night for you.

Please email Mark Green to book.
